I’ve been in the market since pre-school, and started out in an office as a clerk. From there I moved on to be a junior salesman at Fyffes, moving to Pouparts in 1991 as a senior salesman. I started the business, P&I, in 2000, with Ian Taylor. Since 2000 the business has continued to grow. Paul Bishop joined as a director and partner in 2008 and we have gone from strength to strength.
Our business is built around longstanding trust and relationships within the industry. We recognise that our customers and suppliers play a big part in the success of our business.
As a company, we look forward to the redevelopment of Covent Garden. It will be a challenging time but we have a young, dedicated team and we all look forward to the future ahead.
ABOUT PAUL BISHOP
Being in the trade for the majority of my life, I have covered every position, from back door checker, to salesman, to my position now as a Director of P&I and Side Salads. Over the years I’ve learned what customers require and the demands that places on the business and its’ needs. I’ve based my business around quality and trust, and we deliver this 52 weeks of the year. I am proud to be a part of P&I and Side Salads, and we are always working to be one step ahead in delivering the correct standards our customers expect from us.
I’m looking forward to the market redevelopment and the next chapter in the firms’ future. P&I and Side Salads’ most important asset is our young, proactive and most helpful staff force, who help us achieve our goals as a firm, ensuring customer satisfaction and to maintain a financially, and personally, happy firm.
I started in the market when I was 18, over 33 years ago! During that time I have worked in a variety of roles throughout the industry. I started out as a trainee salesman, and from there learned the art of cashiering, dissection, checking and I even worked as a porter. I have managed credit control and worked in management over the years too. I’ve definitely seen and heard it all before! I really enjoy working for P&I and with all the staff we have on the team.
I’m very proud of the staff we have working with us, as well as the quality of the produce we try to sell.
I have worked for P&I since 2012, joining as the new Office Manager. In 2015 I became the Operations, Finance and Compliance Manager. Prior to P&I, I worked for many years at the management consultants, McKinsey & Co. Previous roles included Group Administration Manager for a chain of London Estate Agents for 4 years, and Research and then Marketing roles at Merrill Lynch Investment Bank for six years. From these varied roles, I have gained many years of operations and administrative experience that has enabled me to establish new systems and processes in the company, with the help of my fantastic admin team.
